• Newcastle was established along the route of the railroad, a business that remains active in the community

Newcastle, Wyo. is situated along Highway 85, a popular route traveled by those traveling the north/south route across Eastern Wyoming. Hwy. 16, which traverses the community, connects Newcastle to both the Interstate 90 corridor and the Black Hills of South Dakota. Each of the highways are in good working order, well maintained by the State of Wyoming.

The railroad played a pivotal role in Newcastle’s creation. It’s still active within the community, continuing to utilize the historic depot that was built here over 100 years ago. Several community members work for the railroad. Coal, freight, and even an occasional passenger train, make their way down the rail. It also holds business potential for those looking to grow a company that could use rail access.

For those with their own air transportation, Mondell Field Airport is paved 5300 ft with pilot controlled lighting just a few miles from town. Those looking to catch a commercial flight can do so via Rapid City Regional Airport 86 miles east of Newcastle. Flights are also offered out of the Gillette airport, 83 miles from Newcastle.
