Largemouth bass, crappie, yellow perch and bluegills await anglers at one of northeast Wyoming’s newest fishing holes – Black Elk Pond. The pond sits near the western edge of Newcastle near the community golf course. A sign along Hwy. 16 marks the access point.

The Wyoming Game and Fish, with help from Newcastle-based Black Elk Refining the Wyoming Wildlife and Natural Resource Trust Fund began filling the pond with water in 2015. Today it is open to fishermen, and women, of all ages. Upon the pond’s opening, it was stated that a local fishing pond is one of those items that helps make a town a community!

LAK Lake is just 5 miles East on Hwy offering the best ice fishing in winter and boating recreation and fishing in the summer.
