Newcastle's Weston County Fair has a totally unique and spectacular
event. The west is commonly known for the great sport of rodeo, but the Weston
County Junior Rodeo is one of a kind. This rodeo is for area residents, ages 7
to 17 and has all events from barrel racing to bull riding, roping and goat
tying.
The contestants are broken into 2 age groups and compete with all
the enthusiasm of the PRCA contestants. Each one is going for the All Around
points and the coveted Championship Saddle or any one of the dozen donated
trophies and prizes. We are proud of it and the volunteers who put it together.
You will be glad you stopped.
To watch a youngster rope a calf from a horse that isn't much bigger
than the calf or to watch a young girl with blond hair flying in the wind as
she comes down the home stretch after a fantastic run of the poles on a
baby-sitter of a horse that is hardly past a trot and is watching it's young
rider more than the ground on which they are traveling is a sight to behold.
You will never see more dedication and determination than these young athletes
demonstrate.
For a fun and totally family orientated weekend, come to see the
Weston County Fair Junior Rodeo. There is no other rodeo in the world
like ours.
Spring Fling Rodeo is held every spring during the last weekend in
